Classic Hot Toddy

Cozy up with a timeless classic – the Hot Toddy. This soothing elixir combines the comforting warmth of hot water with the rich sweetness of honey and a zesty burst of fresh lemon juice. Enhancing the experience is a generous pour of whiskey, offering a gentle kick and a sense of relaxation. Infused with the fragrant embrace of cinnamon and cloves, this aromatic blend provides both comfort and flavor. Perfect for chilly nights or whenever you crave a moment of tranquility, the Classic Hot Toddy is your go-to remedy for warmth and well-being.

  • 1 cup hot water
  • 1-2 tablespoons honey (adjust to taste)
  • 1-2 tablespoons lemon (adjust to taste)
  • 2oz whiskey (bourbon or Scotch work well too)
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 3 whole cloves
  • 1 slice of lemon (for garnish)

  1. Boil the Water: Heat the water in a kettle or on the stovetop until it's hot but not boiling.
  2. Prepare the Glass or Mug: Warm up your mug or glass by rinsing it with hot water. Discard the hot water.
  3. Add Sweetener: Pour the honey into the warmed mug. Adjust the amount to your liking, depending on how sweet you want your hot toddy.
  4. Add Lemon Juice: Squeeze the fresh lemon juice into the mug. Again, adjust the amount based on your taste preferences.
  5. Add Whiskey: Pour in the whiskey. Use a good-quality bourbon or Scotch for a rich flavor.
  6. Add Spices: Drop in the cinnamon stick and whole cloves. Stir the mixture with the cinnamon stick to combine the ingredients.
  7. Pour in Hot Water: Fill the mug with hot water from the kettle. Leave some space at the top to avoid spillage.
  8. Stir Well: Stir the hot toddy with the cinnamon stick until the honey is fully dissolved.
  9. Garnish: Add a slice of lemon to the mug for garnish.
  10. Enjoy: Sip the hot toddy slowly, allowing the warmth and flavors to soothe you. It's perfect for relaxing evenings or when you need a comforting drink.
